As a Christ-centered academic environment for each student, Calvary Chapel Christian School (CCCS) is committed to educating each student from grades K-12 school as a whole person.

“We take seriously the development of our students and work in partnership with parents committed to seeing their child become the person God desires him or her to be,” says CCCS Administrative Pastor Ed Arcalas. “As a Christian school, we require at least one custodial parent to have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and to regularly attend an evangelical Bible-teaching church.” Faculty members are college graduates and born-again believers whose calling is to serve children.

Students are challenged to be spiritually growing individuals, life-long learners, effective communicators and discerning individuals able to solve problems from a distinctively Christian worldview. CCCS’ rigorous curriculum offers Bob Jones University Press core subject materials and Latin in high school. Bible classes and weekly Chapel service provide worship opportunities for the students.

Starting this fall, CCCS offers cutting edge opportunities for advanced education through dual enrollment in high school and college for selected students by partnering with four different colleges.

Extracurricular activities include boys and girls volleyball and basketball teams participating in the Koolau Sports Fellowship and Lutheran Leagues. School activities include holiday events, music presentations and field trips with more programs expected.

Fully accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) and the Association of Christian Teachers Schools (ACTS), CCCS is a member of the Hawaii Association of Independent Schools (HAIS) and the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI).

Hongwanji Mission School, a private, coeducational school for the students in preschool (age 3) through grade 8, will enrich your child’s mind, body and spirit through challenging programs and dynamic activities. With a mission to “develop children academically, physically, socially, and spiritually through programs guided by Buddhist values,” our WASC and HAIS-accredited school has been creating global thinkers and community leaders since 1949.

Located at the entry to Nu‘uanu Valley, our facilities offer a safe and stimulating learning environment that includes a library, a technology lab, music room, gym, tennis court, fitness center and swimming pool. The heart of our campus has been revitalized with a brand new Green Space, where students have more room to run, tumble and contemplate.

Students come first at HMS with classes averaging 18 students and resource classes in music, drama, art, Japanese language, physical education, tech literacy, library science and taiko. Our unique values-based programs incorporate the latest technology to help students become active participants in real-world project-based learning. Students expand their learning through community service projects. Teachers at HMS work closely with parents and the school counselor to ensure each student’s success.

The HMS after school program runs until 5:00 p.m. and offers a variety of options including, Japanese language, LEGO robotics, clay, science, reading literacy, art, music, aikido, karate, ukulele, sports, swimming and tennis. Morning care is also available to primary age students.
