Get early access to Ari Southiphong's newest Andy South Fall 2013 designs at an intimate trunk show at Neiman Marcus. Five pieces will be available for sale including hematite crystal blouses and a sleek, elegant cocktail dress with mixed-leather panels (left). This will also be the first time to view and pre-order one of four cropped leather tuxedo jackets, numbered and signed by Southiphong herself.
When: Tomorrow and Saturday, noon-3 p.m.

Tonight Freshionable founder Jenny Cao-Wu celebrates the launch of her new digital book, Dress for Success, with a free seminar and pop-up shop. Cao-Wu will share the 12 items every woman should own and tips on looking great on a budget while Motives Cosmetics makeup artist Jonathan Freitas identifies your most flattering colors and shows you how to wear them at the office. Shoppers are encouraged to donate unneeded work clothes or $5 to the Institute for Human Services.

At Cine à la MODE, you can catch three fashion-focused documentaries in honor of Hawaii Fashion Month: God Save My Shoes, exploring women's obsessions with shoes (look for Manolo Blahnik and Fergie!), Paul Smith, Gentleman Designer, following the English fashion designer as he heads 12 clothing lines and 400 shops and outlets in 35 countries, and Schmatta, the history and present day of New York City’s famous garment district.
When: Monday-Wednesday at 7 p.m.

Yogi Care
Do your body - and the ocean! - some much-needed good at Noelani Studios. Over the next week, all classes at the Haleiwa studio will be donation-based with proceeds going directly to Surfrider Foundation's Oahu chapter for beach and ocean protection.

And the Winner Is...
Nominees for the Governor's Fashion Awards were announced earlier this week, honoring notable retailers, designers, photographers, stylists and beauty professionals (view the full list here). Winners will be announced at a gala at the end of the month as Hawaii Fashion Month's closing event.
When: Wednesday, October 30 at 5:30 p.m.
Where: The Modern Honolulu, 1775 Ala Moana Blvd.

  • UGG Australia's Waikiki store has more than doubled in size and features new loungewear and home sections (above) stocked with luxe pillows and throws, expanded bridal and outerwear areas, and a designated "UGG for Men" shop. Hyatt Regency Waikiki, 2424 Kalakaua Ave.
  • Stop by Manoa Elementary School's craft fair this weekend to shop ccdoodle's new infinity scarves and cowls made with vintage kimono silk and lace trimmed cotton, plus event-exclusive sales like 20-50 percent off screen-printed apparel, two obi belts for $46 and $49 clutches. Saturday, 8:30 a.m.-2 p.m.

Best of LUX
Catch a wildly spectacular hair and makeup runway show at Pink LUX at the Trump by Belvedere. Models will be done in Candyland-themed fantasy looks created by Paul Brown Hawaii for Hawaii Fashion Month. Guests are also asked to wear pink to support breast cancer awareness.
When: Tomorrow, 6:30-11 p.m. Show at 9:30 p.m.

Move to Tours
AIGA Honolulu Chapter holds its first-ever Design Week, a series of seminars and workshops dedicated to all things design-related. While most are technical and best left to pros, Studio Open House allows the public to tour design studios around town (including our own PacificBasin Communications!) to see their creative working environments.
