Your Ultimate Guide to the Best Weekend in Honolulu: Black Friday Edition

Published:

Tomorrow is Thanksgiving, and you fashion mavens know what that means: After the stuffing of gratuitous amounts of turkey, ham, sweet potato casserole and three kinds of pie, we shed our Thanksgiving pants (you know, the ones with the elastic waistband and permanent gravy stains?) to don new battle armor in preparation for another quest: Black Friday shopping. Then Small Business Saturday shopping. And don’t forget Cyber Monday.

With practically every store in Honolulu participating, a carefully crafted plan of attack is crucial to getting the most—for the least—out of this year’s sales. Here’s our guide to the best-of-the-best sales this weekend, so you can spend your time shopping smart … and finishing off those pies while shotgunning Stranger Things on Netflix for the seventh time.

Ala Moana Center

Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 24

Some live for Thanksgiving; others live for Black Friday. For the latter persuasion, Ala Moana Center is definitely the place to go. Since Black Friday begins early, with select stores open on Thanksgiving Day, you can get a head start on shopping at retailers including 7 For All Mankind, Banana Republic, Bath & Body Works, Disney Store, Forever 21, Island Sole, Macy’s, Michael Kors and more. Concerned about possible caffeine intake options? Café Lani Hawai‘i, Foodland Farms, Teavana and lots of other drink/dining options will be there to keep your engine revving.

Black Friday, Nov. 25

Ala Moana Center officially opens at 6 a.m., with some retailers such as Express, GameStop, Rip Curl and Samantha Thavasa opening even earlier. And, yes, that does include The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf and Island Vintage Coffee as well.

Psst! Manaola Hawai‘i will feature new releases and sales at Hula Lehua on Black Friday. (If you’re unfamiliar with the brand, check out its runway show at HONOLULU Fashion Week, which debuted an all-new black-and-gold collection that made us weak in the knees.) The brand will also offer $30 doorbuster deals on select clutches, valued at $180, from 6 to 10 a.m. while supplies last.

Tip: Make it easy on yourself and valet that whip. Valet parking will be available from Black Friday through Monday, Dec. 26 for just five bucks. Located on Level 2 of the Mauka ‘Ewa Parking Structure.
