Mahiku's First Store Opens in Hale'iwa
This brand has got you covered, in and out of the water.
Your wedding day.
When you’re about to get some bow-chicka-wow-wow.
Modern gals wear the pants, but even we know there are times when they’re not, er, appropriate. We used to think paddling was one of those times (our dungarees don’t take well to the water) but, now, thanks to local clothing brand Mahiku’s new Hale‘iwa store, we’re kicking that idea out the door.

Started in 2012 by avid paddler couple Ehiku and Ingo Rademacher, Mahiku specializes in pants made from a special material that can transition from shore to sea seamlessly. The fitted and flexible legginglike cut makes it perfect for sports such as Pilates and yoga, while the light and quick-drying fabric is the answer to any water athlete’s prayers. The pants, which come in capri and full-length styles, will protect you from the sun without weighing you down.
Mahiku already ships to retailers across the world, including California, England and Australia, but, when the Rademachers decided to open their first brick-and-mortar, no place made more sense than their own backyard: Hale‘iwa. The shop stocks not only ladies’ capris and pants, but also bikini tops and bottoms (ideal for active use, as well—none of those flimsy string tops), men's paddling apparel and kid-size pieces.
The functionality is ideal for everyone in the family, but what will really set you apart in the water is Mahiku’s huge array of prints, which ranges from crazy fun, to feminine and soft, to spunky and sassy: Think deep-blue, menacing shark silhouettes, hearts on a denimlike background or pretty lavender hibiscuses. In fact, even if you’re not an avid athlete, these prints are more than enough reason to stock up.
Pretty jean-ius, right?
