Shop

Palm-Palms

What: It’s finally starting to warm up and we’ve got visions of beach days and palm trees on the mind. That’s why today is perfect timing for the new Ava Sky Palm Springs collection release. Swingy skirts, flirty sundresses and comfy jumpers in Island-appropriate palm prints? Yes, please. Plus, to celebrate the launch, the Ava Sky and Fighting Eel team are giving away a Fighting Eel prize pack. Just post a photo of you with some palms, follow and tag @avasky and @fightingeel, and hashtag #asfepalmsaway. The last day to enter is today, so get on it—and don’t forget to make your account public.
When: Giveaway winners will be chosen tomorrow, Saturday, March 28.
Where: avaskyhawaii.com
Details: You can also find the collection in any of these Fighting Eel stores.

Shop

Calling Collective

What: In the midst of spring cleaning? Such a bummer. It’s amazing how many knick-knacks a gal can accumulate in one year. But look on the bright side of spring cleaning: sales! The talented ladies from The Cut Collective are clearing out their stock this Saturday, so you’ll be able to snag chic, tailored pieces from Allison Izu for 20 percent off already-marked down prices, not to mention other pieces from Summer Shiigi’s line Ten Tomorrow and Rumi Murakami. Now that you have all that extra space cleared out in your closet, it should be easy-peasy to fit these new goodies in.
When: Saturday, March 28, 11 a.m.–2 p.m.
Where: 2800 Woodlawn Drive, Suite 160
Details: Visit allisonizu.com for more information on the line.

Shop

A Man’s World

What: How is it that men’s products always seem so gorgeously well made? Waxed-canvas ditty bags, soft leather boots, cigar cases that will last forever and socks that will last even longer.  Now, here’s a curveball: Discount giant Target is getting in on some of that goodness with the new Target Collective, a curated, design-focused collection tailored for men. The store partnered with a few brands, including Locally Grown, Billykirk and Owen & Fred for batch of lovely, U.S.A.-made products. Think leather belts, durable bags, graphic tees and cheeky stationery.
Where: target.com
Details: As usual, Target has something up its sleeves for the ladies as well. The latest is a too-cool, too-cute, contemporary home décor collection from Of A Kind. (We need those bookends!)

Eat

Land of the Rising Yum

What: Eat the Street has been sating our hunger for food truck delicacies for months, so we can’t help but feel a little sad that the delicious event will be moving from its famous 555 South St. location. The new location will be just down the road at Kaka‘ako Gateway Park as of next month, but head to South Street one last time for this month’s Japan-themed event. Making this Asian experience delicious will be food vendors such as Paradise Crepes, Ono Pops, Il Gelato and Wurst Wagon.
When: Friday, March 27, 4–9 p.m.
Where: 555 South St.
Details: Visit eatthestreethawaii.com for more information.

Watch

Dead Ringer

What: We know, we know: another month, another vampire movie. You’re already yawning. But you may want to give this one a chance: A Girl Walks Home Alone At Night by Ana Lily Amirpour is being described as the first “Iranian vampire Western,” and is about a solitary vampire who roams a gloomy Iranian town, with stories of other town members woven in (including an Iranian James Dean-wannabe). This artsy, black-and-white film draws influences from spaghetti westerns, graphic novels, horror films and the Iranian new wave. In other words: Not your average vampire flick.
When: Today, 4 p.m. For additional times later in the week, go to honolulumuseum.org.
Where: 900 Kinau St.
Details: $10 for general admission. $8 for museum members. Purchase tickets at honolulumuseum.org.

Shop
