Sip-Wrecked

Lei Chic Your three-hour tour turned into an unfortunate situation involving you, a crew, an island and a serious lack of a functional boat. Your options are:

a) Freak out.
b) Build a hut out of bamboo while freaking out.
c) Make cocktails, relax and watch everyone else freak out.

(Hint, choose C). And mix yourself a tasty summer cocktail with this recipe, courtesy of Kyle Reutner, one of Honolulu’s hippest bartenders and co-owner of Imbibe Hawaii, a new local cocktail consulting and bar catering company. Packed with tropical-inspired ingredients, it’s the perfect antidote to feeling stranded by the island heat.

Plus it’s way easier than making a radio out of a coconut.

Ginger and Mary Ann’s Daiquiri

Ingredients

¼ Cup Skyy Infusions Ginger Vodka
2 tablespoons fresh lime juice
1 tablespoon sugar
1 tablespoon water
5 to 6 fresh basil leaves
Ice

Add all ingredients to shaker, fill shaker with ice and shake. Strain drink into glass, serve up to the crew and enjoy.

You can order up a Ginger and Mary Ann's Daiquiri from Kyle Reutner on Mondays and Fridays at Apartment 3, 1750 Kalakaua Ave., Honolulu, and on Thursdays and Saturdays at thirtyninehotel, 39 Hotel Street, Chinatown. For more info on Imbibe Hawaii, email imbibehawaii@gmail.com.
