Follow the Waves
What: Tonight and tomorrow are the last nights to see “Surfwise,” the documentary film that follows the life of the surfing Paskowitz family. Stanford-educated Doc Paskowitz, his wife and nine children were known in the 60s and 70s for the camper they lived in and the surf schools they ran on California beaches, but the film reveals that their seemingly simple life was rife with complications.
When: Today and Friday, 1 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.

Spree BargainWhat: A full day of free music and dance performances plus hands-on art activities at The Contemporary Museum’s ArtSpree. Check out synchronized swimming by Mermaids Hawai‘i, acrobatic demonstrations by Samadhi, and listen to live music in the galleries.
When: Saturday, 10 to 4
Where: The Contemporary Museum, Makiki Heights. Park at Punahou School and ride the free shuttle to the museum.

Up The Tempo
What: Listen to local band Tempo Valley's vibey, plush jazz sound.

Escape to Lana‘i
What: Lanai vacations are going cheap this summer. Both Four Seasons resorts on the island just launched a kama‘aina special – $229 a night for The Lodge at Koele, and $269 a night for Manele Bay ( regular prices are around $450 a night). The special includes a dining credit of $50 per day per room.

Prepare to Rock
What: Chris Rock performs his “No Apologies” stand-up show in Honolulu.
When: Saturday July 26; tickets go on sale this Saturday at 9 a.m.

Photo Opportunity
What: Ala Moana Center’s new Club Monaco store (which opens tomorrow) throws a public party to unveil “See the World in Black and White,” their in-store exhibit of iconic Hawai‘i images from local photographers. Browse the photos while you shop for clothes and enjoy complimentary refreshments.
When: Wednesday, July 16, 6:30 p.m. The photo exhibit will be displayed through July.
