Commander: Soldier, your style is getting soft.

Those cheap stockings had a mile-long run in under 10 minutes. Your trendy push-up tops look sloppy. And your neon prints are so loud, I CAN’T HEAR YOU!

You: SIR, YES SIR!

Commander: We’re sending you back to Basique training at Basique Threads boutique.

The store is scheduled to open at 1000 hours Monday in Ward Warehouse. Owner Laurie Oda drew on her experience in Macy’s, Victoria’s Secret, and Bamboo Sky to build her shop full of basic pieces in largely solid colors but with unique cuts and details.

You: I don’t want my uniform to blend in with everyone else!

Commander: Are you questioning me?

You: No sir!

Commander: You’ll also find all the ammo you need to add a signature style: Vintage brass and natural stone jewelry by Garnett, studded handbags and cardigans, or for the guys co-owner Nicholas Leong has neff hats and simple-but-stylish button-down shirts and tees by Commune.

You: Can I afford to put my wardrobe through the paces?

Commander: If you drop and give me four twenties! Prices top out at 70 dollars. Now, get going. (singing) I don’t know but I’ve been sold.

You: (singing) I don’t know but I’ve been sold!

Commander: Basique Threads will make me bold.





Basique Threads is located in Ward Warehouse, 1050 Ala Moana Center across from The Wedding Cafe. Starting Monday, hours will be Monday - Saturday,  10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sundays 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
