Headline Brews
The buzz is building for January 20 − the inauguration of a smooth character from Hawai‘i whose heritage also includes Indonesia and Kenya.
But the above-average joe we’re talking about is actually a new coffee, blended as a tribute to the new president.
Kona Joe Coffee on the Big Island created the Barack O Blend with beans grown in Hawai‘i, Sumatra, and Kenya.
It goes on sale January 20 at the Kealakekua farm and online. The patriotic grounds also give back to the Kona community – they’re packed by the New Directions program, an organization that works with veterans who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless.
Now those are some cool beans.
Barack O Blend coffee is available at Kona Joe Coffee, 79-7346 Mamalahoa Hwy.,Kealakekua, 808.896.8888. Order online at www.konajoe.com
