The Missed List - February 2012

Something has disrupted the time-space continuum.

An extra day has appeared in your calendar and yet you have absolutely no recollection of the 28 prior. Whether the blackout came from pushing your dad out of the path of a car, a blow to the head at your stepdad’s casino, or at the hands of an evil cowboy, there’s no need to go searching for enough plutonium to get your DeLorean up to 1.21 gigawatts just to read those past Lei Chics you don’t remember.

We have you covered with a round-up of our favorite finds from the past month. So you know what to buy, do, and eat in the future.

Lei ChicTote Couture
Birkin style totes at MisFortune

Melanie Griffith-big hair is not necessary when all you need is these fun bags to become a Birkining Girl. The canvas Hermes look-alikes have been flying out of the MisFortune (one shopper even bought the whole stock a few weeks ago). If you’re coveting the small or medium totes you’ll find a good selection. But if you’re searching for the bigger size for that overnight with Harrison Ford, you better check often then act fast.

Lei ChicThe Lip Crowd
Filthy Farmgirl Smoochie lip balms

Robin Williams went on the warpath against Edward Norton- but chances are things would have been glossed over, or at least he wouldn’t have been so chapped, if the Smoochie in the 2002 film had been these yummy lip savers from Filthy Farmgirl. Since our article, the farmgirls (aka Big Island friend Gretchen Wetzel and Devin Asch) have been busy creating three new flavors and a new lotion that will soon be launched. We’ll keep you posted.

Lei ChicLate Bite Affair
Sweet Endings for any night

White Castle burgers? They’re fine. But you wouldn’t necessarily, say, ride a cheetah for food unless it’s an exceptional dessert. HONOLULU Magazine’s food and culture editor had the rough task of finding the sweet finishes she would pick as her last late night meal before medical school. Almost all of them are still being offered and here’s the real scoop – after tasting all these treats Cheng topped it off with another one of her favorite spots for desserts – Nobu Waikiki.

Lei ChicMix Master
Mod Vintage in Kaimuki

No one puts you in a corner. After all, how would they then see your ultra-cool hot pink high-waisted Valentino jeans, enamel pins, or retro-style Roberta Oaks? DJ Silvana aka Silvana Alfonso offers it all in her intercontinental collection of feminine, sophisticated pieces – meaning you can scoop up a 50s sweater and beribboned MARC by Marc Jacobs shoes just in time for your dance lesson with that cute-but-tortured dirty dancer.
You’ll have the time of your life here.
