Va Va Boom!

Lei ChicNew Year’s resolutions? Not so much. You passed on the cocktails, skipped the chips and just said no to those holiday calorie bombs. So while the masses endure Zumba classes more crowded than Waikiki in wedding season, your buff bod never stopped being beach ready.

You’ve got the wow – but with the perfect bikini, it’d be more like boom boom pow.

As always, the ladies at Drift Boutique in Kaimuki have you covered. Designed by Big Island surfer girl Elena Merritt, Boom Boom Bikinis arrive on Oahu this week. Like you, the collection is a serious blend of fashion conscious and sporty, which means the nylon-spandex suits come in eensy-weensy Brazilian cuts as well as sturdier styles for surfer chicks.

Merritt names most of her designs after people who have impacted her life. The Kaytlin turns funky-retro 1970s living room colors into a stylish full-in-front, bikini-in-the-back suit, perfect for when you want the feel of a one-piece without getting the one-piece tan. Other suits, like the ultra-hot pink Hau’oli, reflect her philosophy that the beach is all about being happy – and making sure your unsinkable style doesn’t get swallowed up in the crashing waves.

Just what you need to give your fellow beachgoers a Boom with a view.

Find Boom Boom bikinis beginning this week at Drift Boutique, 3434 Waialae Ave., Honolulu, 808.284.1177. To direct order, call 808.987.3496 or visit www.boomboomhawaii.com.
