Long Time, No Spend

You meant to stop by. To call. To check in. But life and work have kept you too busy, and you've neglected some of your usual shops. No need to feel guilty. Here's a look at what's new at some favorite stops.
Lei ChicIn the Comfort Zone
It's in between seasons, and your winter buys already leave you in the cold. Aloha Rag springs you forward with its 2011 spring/summer collection. The aptly named Mellow Memories line evokes the breezy feel of the leisurely summer days of the 70s and early 80s. Designer Tatsugo Yoda's signature easy but edgy style shows up in vintage washes and distressed edges for carefree comfort.
What we want: The signature M65 jacket (now for women!) highlighted with quirky pink zippers, and slim-cut but cushy sweat shorts stylish enough to walk out of the gym.
Check out Aloha Rag's collection here.

Lei Chic Make Room for Baby

If you haven't been to a baby shower in the last year, raise your hand. We thought so. Just in time, SoHa has expanded its line of items for little ones. In addition to onesies, now you can pick up monogrammed burp cloths, adorable rattles, and even a ducky-shaped loofah at your favorite home store.
What we want: Reusable sandwich and snack bags that eliminate the plastic and come in a range of cute prints. Or check out the irreverent Baby Owner's Start Kit with a "how to" manual and instructional poster for diaper changing.

Lei ChicStart-Up Chef
New lunch spot Not Just Desserts is not just for take-out anymore. The restaurant opened last month, and has been selling out of its healthful vegetarian, sugar-free, and gluten-free goods daily. Now chef Kate Wagner is launching classes to prove anyone can be a home cook.
What we want: A slice of Wagner's molten chocolate cake with raspberry sauce. It's on the menu for her first class, along with salmon salad and pork cutlet. The first class is Tuesday, February 22 starting at 5:00 p.m. at Not Just Desserts, 110 Marin Lane. Cost is $30, but you do have to bring your own ingredients. Call 489-3749 for the details.

New Product Alert
Check out a sleek new kit that lets you bag that ziploc next time you travel. Pitotubes were created by a former flight attendant, with specialized designs that keep your liquids from leaking out in midair. Not only that, but the stylish one-ounce bottles in the mini kit are packaged in a clear case that will slide through security.
You can only find pitotubes in Hawaii right now at newcomer shop A Little Bit of Everything, 725 Kapiolani Blvd., Suite C111. Owner Valerie Kubota sells the mini kit for $32, a bigger kit for $40. Each set comes with replaceable pump and spray heads.
