Wine on a Beer Budget
Pau hana doesn’t have to be so pricey. Thursday evenings Amuse Wine Bar at the Honolulu Design Center offers half price wine cards up to $50 (so pay $25 and get a $50 value). Use the card at the self-serve wine dispensers to buy sample pours of more than 80 wines from around the world, including vintage and rare wines that retail for more than $200 a bottle. This month’s Art After Dark party is a chance to check out the new exhibit featuring works by Bhutanese monks, The Dragon’s Gift: The Sacred Arts of Bhutan . You can taste a little of Bhutan too with specialty green tea cocktail concoctions and a traditional Bhutanese chile dish of sweet and spicy chiles simmered in a variety of curries.
