Moto jackets. Zipper-flanked cargos. Stud and chain-adorned everything.
With fall right around the corner, your wardrobe is starting to take a turn for the tough.
Give sweet one last shot with a few pieces from local designer Reva Canali’s delightful little debut line, available starting today on her brand new Etsy boutique.
Originally from New York, Canali came to the Islands to study apparel design at UH Manoa. Her graduation this past spring came on the heels of a standout showing at the school's annual student fashion presentation — for her senior collection, aptly named Once Upon A Time, Canali whipped up a mix of ultra-romantic confections (puffed shoulders, satiny tulip skirts and paperbag waistbands) which garnered rave reviews.
For her new line, Canali wanted to carry over the same whimsical feel with pieces that were a little less dressy, and a lot more wearable. The result: a collection of flirty high-waisted lace skirts that can easily be dressed up or down — think tights and ankle booties by day and strappy sandals at night.
All are made of a soft cotton knit topped with a delicate lace overlay and come equipped with comfy elastic waistbands. More than just another pretty lace, this ain't the fabric your granny's shawl are made of — Canali kept things fresh with edgy, unexpected color combinations, like bright turquoise over pale lavender and burgundy over gray-and-white stripes — there's even a paint-splatter printed lace.
You'll also want to keep an eye out for Canali's soon-to-be-available velvet and lace headbands, and racerback tanks and v-neck tees embellished with fabric flowers, sequins, and appliqués.
It's just what you need for a little sweet escape.
