Spring Greening

Lei ChicCheesy globe-print tees. Potato sack dresses. Eye-numbing shades of beige, nude, and tan.

Whoever said it’s easy being green, was obviously no fashionista. It's no wonder poor Kermit never wore any pants.

For sustainable fashion with a little, no a lot more sass, hit up the Big Island's brand new Green With Envi boutique, stocked full of vibrant, unbelievably cute eco-chic clothing and accessories, for its grand opening tomorrow, Earth Day, April 22.

Lei ChicA recent high school grad, it was a stint at the Muumuu Heaven boutique that showed owner Tahiti Huetter the, ahem, green light, and convinced her to put her college credits on hold to help save the planet.

She's filled her shelves with stylish, everyday pieces from local and Mainland favorites like Posh Pua, REUSE Denim, Alternative Apparel, and Hamakua Home Grown—comfy tops, knit dresses, cardis and jeans made entirely from sustainable materials like bamboo, beach wood, and organic cotton.

And her accessory bins are equally brimming with covetable goodies, like Lala B. koa wood earrings shaped from discarded ukulele scraps, pretty Megan Leone rosette-topped headbands made with faulty zippers salvaged from factory floors, and ReFind Originals totes and clutches born from vintage leather jackets.

Huetter carefully scrutinizes each and every brand, making sure that they're manufactured using fair trade and earth-friendly methods. She even donates five cents to charity each time you bring your own shopping bag.

So hop on over.
It's just what you needed to change your tune.
