Shells and the City

www.leichic.com Sometimes you’re a little bit country (bikini, sundress, rubber slippers). And other times, you’re straight up rock-and-roll (skinny jeans, sexy top, sky-high stilettos).

But your limited closet space and even more limited budget insist you invest in accessories that work for both.

Thank goodness for La ‘akea, the beachy-chic jewelry line designed by local girl Natasha Briley, that offers the best of both worlds.

As former owner of the ultra-stylish MisFortune boutique, Briley is no stranger to high fashion. But just because she can rattle off designers at the drop of a hat doesn't mean that she's strictly a city girl.

In fact, it’s Briley’s beachfront home on the North Shore, where she handcrafts each piece, that offers her inspiration. Her pieces combine sterling silver and wire-wrapped gold hardware with organic, island elements such as stones, pearls and shells.

Take for instance the metallic-dipped shell pendant necklaces or the wire-wrapped hoop earrings adorned with semi-precious stones.

Like all her pieces, both are just as perfect for a weekend at the beach as they are for a night on the town.

Proving that sometimes it’s okay to be a two timer.

La‘akea jewelry is available boutiques all over the state including at  Split Obsession, Shasa Emporium, and Valerie Joseph on Oahu; and on the Big Island at Ginger and Koi and Persimmon.
