When stepping foot onto Kawaiaha‘o Church School’s campus, you immediately feel a sense of aloha, peacefulness and ‘ohana. Our school is often described as a haven in downtown Honolulu, a place where keiki can learn and grow in spacious indoor and outdoor learning environments. We continue to grow and now serve keiki from 2 years old through 6th grade.
Each school day morning, keiki are greeted by their teachers with a pūliki (hug), and feel nurtured and supported daily in their home away from home. You can often hear our keiki singing mele (songs) in Hawaiian, saying pule (prayers) before their family-style meals, and working on projects collaboratively in the classroom.
Kawaiaha‘o Church School is a Christian Montessori school that incorporates Hawaiian language, culture and values. All keiki are welcome. This year, we are celebrating 44 years of teaching and service to our keiki!
Our school is WASC accredited and recognized for its innovative S.T.E.A.M. curriculum. It is the first school in the state to offer a dual language program, with Montessori educational materials available in both English and Hawaiian.
Keiki grow with aloha for Ke Akua (God), aloha kekahi i kekahi (love for one another), and aloha ‘āina (caring for God’s creation). Our graduates are often described as adaptable, confident, and have a passion for learning! Visit Kawaiaha‘o Church School and see why our keiki are lights in
