The Hitt List: My Weekend Picks
Pleasurelounge Hawaii is really doing well in the nightclub scene. Check it out this Saturday night on the second floor of the Honolulu Design Center as it takes over the Amuse Wine Bar and Cupola combined, with a DJ playing your current hits. They were at capacity last weekend, so go early! 21+, $10 cover plus $5 valet. 1250 Kapiolani Blvd. 9-2am.
Oceans 808 has come out with a lot of new promotions lately, including The Blue Room, which will be recurring every third Friday. Expect an undersea feeling with DJs Betty, FlyKid, Technique and Flip. $10, 21+, 10 p.m. to 4 a.m., Restaurant Row, 500 Ala Moana Blvd., (808) 587-5838.
F&M Present’s Home tonight at the Lotus Hotel and Aria at Century Center tomorrow. Aria has a free cover now, so there is no reason not to check it out! I do recommend it. It’s a cool venue. See my quick review.
This weekend is Hawaii’s Annual Summer Salsa in Paradise Festival. Tonight, visit Planet Hollywood at 8 p.m. for its first night of competition, a workshop and dance showcase, then continue dancing the night away with Latin music until closing. The main event will be Saturday at Ala Moana Beach Park with workshops, performances, the Son Caribe Salsa Band, Brazilian dancers and Capeiroa Hawaii. Visit www.summersalsainparadise.com for more information and a full schedule of events.
Want to re-live prom night, or attend one that you missed before? This Saturday, Pearl will be hosting Bella Notte, a fundraiser for the Bella Project, a non-profit who distributes prom gowns to underprivileged teens. Tickets are $50 and include light pupus, cocktails and a souvenir prom photo. There will also be opportunities to win prizes from spas, salons, restaurants and other stores. This is a great night to wear that beautiful gown that has been sitting unused in your closet, and maybe even donate the other two or three that you find while you’re in there! $50, buy tickets online at www.thebellaprojecthawaii.com. Pearl Hawaii, 1450 Ala Moana Blvd., 3rd Floor, Hookipa Terrace, (808) 944-8000.
