Amenities, sure, they’re great. But these days style-minded staycationers are hunting for getaway locales with a strong design focus. Translation: less bottle service, more swoon-worthy Instagram backdrops. After all, if your vacation snaps aren’t post-worthy, did you really even go?
One sure way to elicit some Insta envy? A stop at The Four Seasons Resort at Ko Olina, which recently tapped local accessories and homewares designer Jana Lam to transform two of its luxe, poolside cabanas with her punchy, tropical prints.
“I was going for a fun, lively vibe,” says Lam of her vision for the breezy 176-square-foot spaces. “I started with simpler prints for the large pieces.” Curtains topped with her dreamy sea flower design provide a warm welcome while the coast-modern teak chaise pairs perfectly with her jungly monstera pattern.
“Then I decked out the rest with a mix of colors and prints,” she says. Plush throw pillows feature a kaleidoscope of papaya, shell, orchid and fan palm patterns in sorbet hues. Even the tabletop accessories got the Lam rainbow treatment. The designer whipped up Lucite serving trays printed with banana leaves and covetable coasters and tea towels.
The install is only up through spring 2018, so best get to booking, lest you get beat to the post.
