The holidays may have come and gone but these brisk tropical temps and long wintry nights have still got us gaga for hygge, aka the ultra-on-trend Danish tradition of everything warm and cozy. Currently, we’re snuggling up to Yireh’s latest clothing releases, made for the easy breeziness of Island living with a backstory from local designer Emily Valdez that will warm your heart.

Valdez named the end-of-the-year collections Crimson and, aptly, Chaleur, the French word for warmth. For Valdez, warmth is more than a number on the thermostat—it’s evoked in a tender smile, a moment of connection to a new culture or lasting memories made while clad in comfy, lovable duds.

Standout details, such as gorgeous Balinese-inspired embroidery adorn dress hems and jumpsuit sleeves. Tasseled waists, wide ruffles and statement-making floral prints also caught our eye, the perfect mix of resort-casual and delicate femininity, with wide cuts, soft neutrals and earthy shades giving off a quintessentially boho vibe.

And Valdez’s good style goes beyond her designs—all of her clothing is ethically made in Indonesia by workers who are paid fair wages, receive paid time off and get medical benefits, and 10 percent of proceeds are donated to International Justice Mission, an organization dedicated to rescuing victims from human trafficking.
