Jeez, 2017, can you stop already? We’re only a hair over halfway done with this year and we’re already feeling ready for a life overhaul. Read: less negativity, less time on social media (please), and more of the good things, like beaches, friends, fun and sun.
Enter The Surf Couture, a local brand that’s already two steps ahead. Designer Mariana Echegoyan picked this year as the time to revamp her handbag line (formerly Me Hawai‘i), updating her beach bags and pouches with fresh branding, elevated quality and a slick, tropical style.
Our favorite product of the remix? The aptly dubbed The Everything Bag, a streamlined tote that’s got both style and substance in mind. Echegoyan kept her eye on functionality, outfitting the carry-all with a waterproof vinyl interior lining ideal for schlepping sopping swimsuits to and from the waves. Aesthetically, on-point snaps of palms and fronds mix with black-and-white-striped interiors and patterned rope handles.
Echegoyan, who was born in New York, raised in Spain and studied design in Paris, dreams up and manufactures the bags entirely in Hawai‘i, printing just 10 of each iteration to keep things current—be sure to keep an eye out for a whole new round dropping in October.
The Surf Couture The Everything Bag, $130. Available at Nordstrom, Ala Moana Center, (808) 953-6100, and Sand People, Ala Moana Center, (808) 955-8883.
