Cocktail Seminars at the Halekulani

Published:

This weekend Halekulani hosts “The Art of the Cocktail.” The event offers local and visiting connoisseurs a chance to participate in panels and seminars put on by some of the world’s most celebrated mixologists, including Dale DeGroff, also known as “King Cocktail,” Julie Reiner, Simon Ford, Chandra Lam, Tim Rita and Tony Abou-Ganim.

Diane Ako, director of public relations for the Halekulani says, “Dale DeGroff is universally recognized as the best mixologist in the world, Julie Reiner is making a huge splash on the New York City scene and our own Tim Rita is an up and coming talent who has some regional awards under his belt.” Ako adds that these seminars are accessible for the consumer, while being challenging enough for the professional, “We are pleased to give people a chance to learn, hands-on, from the best in the industry.”

The event begins Friday, Sept. 17 with a “Kick off Cocktail Party Rub.” Participants will get the opportunity to sample spirited creations and enjoy appetizers, accompanied by live jazz music.

On Saturday, Dale DeGroff will lead a discussion about the evolution of the cocktail, educating participants on where the industry is today and what to look forward to in the future. In another seminar, DeGroff and fellow mixologist Tony Abou-Ganim will walk through a history and tasting of tequila, and share insight on how to make the perfect margarita. These are just a few of the seminars that guests can look forward to.

Advance reservations are required for all “The Art of the Cocktail” events. A five-seminar package is available for $160. Single classes are available with prices ranging from $40 to $125 per person. For information and reservations, call 931-5040.
