Since 1955, Chaminade University, a Catholic, comprehensive, master’s level university, has served the people of Hawaii and the US-affiliated Pacific Island states. Offering a collaborative learning environment that prepares students for life, work and service, the university engages students in small classes (averaging 20) taught by caring professors. Guided by its Catholic Marianist and liberal arts educational traditions, Chaminade encourages the development of moral character and personal competencies, and the commitment to build a just and peaceful society. In 2008, it was honored on the President’s Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll.

Chaminade’s student body of 2,600 degree-seeking students, one of the nation’s top three most diverse student populations, demonstrates the university’s commitment to students of the Pacific, with 64 percent of American Asian or Pacific Island origin and 20 percent from Pacific Island Territories.

Three exclusive Chaminade majors (Forensic Sciences, Interior Design, and Criminology and Criminal Justice) are among its 23 undergraduate and 7 graduate programs. It features state-of-the- art science labs for research and, as a member of the Leadership Alliance, enables students to conduct summer research at top Mainland universities. Regionally accredited since 1960, it also offers 12 off-campus locations and a distance education program to serve military service-members, their families, and other under-represented student populations.

As students prepare to learn to live and to earn a living, Chaminade graduates are recognized for their liberal arts learning, professional career development, competency in information and communication technologies, and a life-long interest in learning, service and ethical responsibility as engaged global citizens.
