Books for Sports Fans

Here’s an idea for tailgating amusement: Quiz your friends and family with the brain teasers in author Lance Tominaga’s new book, The Hawaii Sports Trivia Challenge: 1,000 Questions to Test Your Sports IQ.

A lifelong sports fan, Tominaga was a Final Four competitor in the ESPN 1420 Sports Radio trivia challenge—he went on to join the staff there and is now the editor of ESPN 1420 Magazine. His book features 100 quizzes on Island athletics trivia, with subjects as diverse as Rainbow Wahine volleyball and Little League champs. The book, from our sister company Watermark Publishing, is $11.95. You can find it at bookstores or at www.bookshawaii.net

If you want to relive last year’s Hawaii Warrior Football glory, check out The Perfect Season. This coffee-table book, produced by Bess Press and The Honolulu Advertiser, has tons of photos of players, games, closed practices and, of course, the Sugar Bowl. It’s $29.95 and can be ordered at www.besspress.com.
