An Oceanfront Classic in Kailua for $2.8 Million

It’s Friday, which means the weekend’s open houses are upon us. Of the 384 opens listed on www.hicentral.com, this oceanfront six-bedroom, five-bath Kaimalino-neighborhood residence caught my eye. I guess you could say I’m a sucker for an ocean view, and this house has that in spades, as well as views of Kailua Beach, the Mokulua Islands and the Koolau Mountain range.

The 4,500-plus-sq.-ft. home was built in 1977, and has been “meticulously maintained” by its original owners, says listing agent June Mellor. A renovation completed at the end of last summer upgraded the downstairs flooring (koa laminate throughout the living spaces; travertine in the kitchen), kitchen and courtyard. The home has a three-car garage, a wide-open, grassy backyard, and did I mention the views?

Open house:  Sunday, Sept. 5 from 2 to 5 p.m. For the MLS listing: http://hicentral.com/properties/prop_detail.asp?listnum=2914361&type=mls#

Money talk: The property was recently reduced from $2,995,000 to $2,895,000.
