Live in a home with condo advantages
I recently visited an area above Kalani High School called Kalani Iki, and it was like driving to a community I had no idea existed. It's a quiet, secluded neighborhood with clusters of buildings that look like hybrids of townhomes and single-family homes.
There are about 129 units on this tree-lined, 20-acre, hillside property, with guest parking along the road. I always marvel at how it looks like a regular neighborhood, but is really a planned project with condo amenities. You can enjoy the area's pool, paddle tennis court and lush landscaping without having to worry about maintenance, which is all done by the association.
A new listing just came up, and will be open this weekend, so you can see it for yourself. (Click here for details.) The 2,136-square-foot home has been redone with a new kitchen and granite counters, a new roof, a new cedar ceiling and a Frank-Lloyd-Wright-inspired slate wall in the living room.
The 2.5 renovated bathrooms are notable in their own right; one has a walk-in rain shower and massage jets. They almost overshadow the four bedrooms, which are nicely redone and have ocean views.
Despite being so secluded, I'm surprised that it's easy to access. Check it out for yourself on Sunday.
