Brand new in Makiki

I thought I’d leave my schedule to fate yesterday, so after lunch near King and Keeaumoku streets, I turned on my real estate apps on my phone to see what open houses were nearby.

Only a few came up within walking distance, but one caught my eye: No, not the building; as you can see, Matlock Hale is pretty dated and bland. The photos of the interior were amazing, which motivated me to take a look. (Click here for details.)

The entire unit has been renovated from top to bottom, with new appliances, granite countertops, stylish cherry kitchen cabinets, new tile throughout, and new designer lighting. The bedrooms and the storage closet have custom-made closets to ensure lots of storage.

The bathroom renovations are so new, the toilets still have the plastic wrappers on them and the glass shower doors still have the manufacturer’s stickers so you know what you’re getting.

I was also iffy about the building as I walked up to it, since there is obviously noise from the freeway. But the owner installed double-paned glass doors on both lanais, which shut all the noise out.

It’s a very bright unit, with three bedrooms, two bathrooms, and two lanais comprising 1,202 square feet. Once inside, you’d almost never know the age of the building that houses it. If nothing else, it’s a unit to see so you can think of the possibilities for your own home.
