Want to Live in Kaka‘ako? Keauhou Place Condo Project to Begin Sales Soon

Sales are expected to start soon for the latest Kaka‘ako condo project called “Keauhou Place.”

The upcoming sale will be announced via an ad in the daily newspaper. The sales center located in Restaurant Row recently began allowing Realtors to bring in their clients for a tour of the floor plans, renderings and a model kitchen.

Keauhou Place is a partnership between developer Stanford Carr and landowner Kamehameha Schools. It includes 388 condos in the 43-story tower and 35 townhouse units. It will be built on what is now a surface parking lot along South Street where the popular Eat the Street food truck events are held. Construction is expected to start in 2015 and take about two years.

According to the latest information:

  • 1-bedroom units in the tower will start in the mid-$400,000s and range from 494 to 675 square feet.

  • 2-bedroom units in the tower will start from the mid-$500,000s and range from 812 to 1,059 square feet.

  • 3-bedroom units will start in the mid-$800,000s and range from 1,341 to 1,613 square feet.

As for the townhouse units, the 2-bedrooms will start in the mid-$600,000s (922-1,112 square feet) and the 3-bedrooms start in the mid-$900,000s (1,341-1,613 square feet).

A fifth of the Keauhou Place units are classified as reserve housing that carry owner-occupant requirements as well as income-asset restrictions. The reserve 1-bedrooms will start in the mid-$300,000s and the 2-bedrooms in the low $400,000s.

The first release of units will be for so-called “investor” units, which carry no restrictions for resale or renting. The owner-occupant and reserve units will be released at a later date.

One of the unique features or benefits for Keauhou Place is that a rail station is planned directly on the mauka side of the project. Sales agents for the project are touting how residents can easily and quickly travel to Ala Moana Center or the airport.

Running through the middle of the project will be Keauhou Lane, a pedestrian shopping and eating complex, as part of the urban “live, work, play” vision for Kaka‘ako.
