Convenient and new in Kakaako

Continuing with the APEC wrap-up, I’m showing various spots to live in metro Honolulu that are walkable, if traffic caused by world dignitaries ever ties Oahu up again.

The Moana Pacific is one of those places—it gets an 85 on Walkscore.com for being so close to shopping, dining, culture, and business offices (a plus if you work in the area; not so close if you work on Bishop St.). In a pinch, you could walk to almost everything you need in a 15-minute radius. If you stayed home, the amenities include a putting green, six golf driving cages, two tennis courts, spa, swimming pool, and a playground. Each tower has its own theater, game/party room, and fitness center.

The towers are just four years old, but if you want something totally new, unit II-4507 fits the bill. (Click here for details.) The current owner bought it with the intent to have a second home, but has since decided he doesn’t need it. He never even lived in the unit, so nothing has been used; it doesn’t even have a washer/dryer yet.

That’s not to say it’s empty. It features hardwood floors, Corian counters, and Subzero and Bosch appliances. The kitchen and den have custom mahogany and bamboo cabinets.

The unit is 1,113 square feet with two bedrooms and two bathrooms. It’s just three floors below the penthouse, so you get amazing views, too.
