Elegance inside and out in Kahala

East meets West, traditional meets contemporary, and casual meets luxury in this Kahala home. There’s no shortage of nice houses in the neighborhood, but this one stood out among the new listings with little tech touches (which are important for bloggers).

This two-story home was custom-built in 2009, with a design reminiscent of an Italian villa: intricate stair railings, a formal dining area and high ceilings with a huge picture window in the living room. The interior and furnishings are so refined, the owners named it “Villa Élégance.”

There are five bedrooms and 5.5 bathrooms in this 5,478-square-foot residence, and the pool and Jacuzzi have a separate pool house. Outside, throughout the 10,380-square-foot lot, the estate is lushly landscaped.

My favorite features, however, were the CAT5 wiring system—known to be very safe, with a fast, stable internet connection that enables large data transfers— and the touch-screen control for lights, which is just cool to have. There is capability for security cameras, although the new owners will have to install this.

There’s a broker’s open today until 11:30 a.m. to introduce the listing, but no other open houses planned in the near future. (Click here for details.)

Money talk: $3,880,000 fee simple
