Hawaii Kai home with unique touches

At first glance, this listing in Na Pali Haweo is like most other luxury homes in the area: spacious, breathtaking views. But look closer, and you’ll find some interesting little features and design elements. (Click here for details.)

Out front, there’s a three-car garage and a separate area that can function as space for a fourth car or as a workshop. There’s ample parking in the driveway and the street if you are entertaining.

The gunite pool with waterfall takes a flowing, bean-like shape, with a bridge crossing the part where it bends. Aside from it being a cute element, the curve gives more area to stand in the pool area, another nice spot for entertaining.

Looking back at the house from the pool, you can see there’s a part of the house that looks like a tower. This is actually the home’s indoor elevator, which the owner spent a lot of time adding. If you’re planning ahead for elderly parents or disabled guests, this is an ideal feature. There’s also an electric-charged chair lift in the garage, so, after parking the car inside, one can sit on the lift and take it to the back entrance of the house.

Since the two-story home is on a rim lot, you get panoramic views of Diamond Head, Koko Head and the ocean. There are four bedrooms and 4.5 baths under 3,838 square feet of living area. The property is 12,580 square feet, so, in addition to the pool, the owners have a fenced dog run to keep your pets active even when you’re not.

The layout inside is very open, probably to enable you to see the view even from the back of the house. The gourmet kitchen has both gas and electric stove/ovens, and there are two sets of washer/dryers, also both gas and electric.

If you want to see it, the first broker’s open is next Thursday, April 5, from 9:30 to noon.

Money talk: $2,400,000 fee simple
