Open House Pick Of The Week: Kahala
Usually, when I’m looking at open houses for the week, there’s not a lot of information in the listing. There are so many details on this new home in Kahala, though, that I can’t fit it into one blog post. It’s definitely one that you need to see instead of just reading about it here.
If you Google this listing’s address, the street view shows the home under construction. The single-story, four-bedroom, four-bathroom residence was completed just last year on a 10,000-square-foot corner lot, spanning 3,111 square feet of living area. The garage itself is another 379 square feet—which is almost as big as a studio I used to live in.
The floors feature travertine from Peru — special ordered to fit the massive size of the open living area — and luxury tile in the bathroom by Ann Sachs. There are pocket doors throughout the home to maximize the spaces, and Japanese shoji doors opening to the deck and pool. The shoji doors, in fact, were made in a traditional method by Kona Shoji Design, similar to Larry Ellison's home in California that that’s known for its all-wooden exterior shoji doors with glass.
The master bedroom has its own, private lanai overlooking the garden and lychee tree (please keep this tree, as no one has these anymore), custom walk-in closet, and a gorgeous open bathroom. The listor has an entire paragraph on the Ingo Maurer Zettel'z 5 suspension chandelier in this room, which is another tip-off that this house is a must-see.
The gourmet kitchen is huge, with high-end appliances and counters, and lots of storage space. It should get good use, since the yard has a lychee tree, lemon/lime tree, jabon (pomelo) tree and Madagascan olive tree.
All the furniture that you see is also for sale and has their own (very long) descriptions so you know who designed them and how they were made.
The home will be open for the first time this Sunday from 1 to 5 p.m. Happy house hunting!
