Open house pick of the week: Makiki

If you need to be close to schools and freeway access, but want to live in a nice environment, you can’t do much better than Mott-Smith Laniloa. It’s within walking distance to nine public and private schools, and a short drive to both east- and west-bound H-1 entrances.

Mott-Smith Laniloa gets 80 points on Walkscore.com because of its proximity to these and other amenities, and 56 points for transit (or having ample public transportation options). You would think that the noise from such traffic would be a problem, but the building is actually not on a main thoroughfare so it isn’t loud. (During football season, however, you may hear the cheers from Roosevelt High School if it’s a good game.)

Currently, six of the 428 units are for sale; this two-bedroom, two-bath unit on the cool side of the building is having its first open house this Sunday. The unit was recently upgraded with new kitchen cabinets, counters, appliances and fixtures, as well as new bathrooms.

It’s spacious, at 873 square feet, and has panoramic views of Diamond Head, mountain and ocean with a huge, 198-square-foot lanai so you can take it all in—not to mention, it’s on a high floor. (Click here for details.)

Happy house hunting!
