Open House Pick of the Week: Hawaii Kai
Great value in East Honolulu.
Single-family homes under a million dollars in East Honolulu are of great interest to homebuyers, so I always need to flag the best values — in my opinion — for our readers. This one is just that, with a large home on a large lot.
The five-bedroom, three-bathroom custom-built home has 2,548 sq. ft. of living space on a 5,502-sq. ft. lot, with a huge 521-sq. ft garage. It’s 20 years old — being sold by its original owners, who have moved to the Mainland to be with their son as he embarks on college life — but this house is nicely maintained and has new carpet and fresh paint.
The best feature is the fact that it’s a multi-level home with a mother-in-law unit on the ground floor with a walk-in shower, which is perfect for multi-generational living.
Just for comparison: 1,200 sq. ft. “fixer-uppers” in Hawaii Kai are already selling in the $800,000 range, but this one has space and is move-in ready. And, with storage a must for Hawaii homes, this one has ample storage areas in the garage and both stairwells.
The home sits on a quiet cul-de-sac, giving it a mini-community feel (which is a nice touch when moving into a new neighborhood).
The home will be open this Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. Click here for details. Happy house hunting!
(Disclosure alert: This home is listed by one of our HONOLULU magazine real estate bloggers, but he did not choose this listing.)
Money talk: $975,000 fee simple
