Cute investment near UH Manoa
When my sister, Stephanie, was in her second year of college in Connecticut, the parents of one of her roommates decided it would be in their best interest to buy a house where the girls could live until graduation. Since university housing was tight, many students were forced to live off campus. So, they figured, why not have an investment at the end of that time, rather than pour money into the rental market?
When I heard about this two-bedroom, one-bathroom condo at University Towers in Moiliili, I thought back to my sister’s college days and remembered the fun they had in that house (and the savings their parents benefited from). This unit would be a terrific investment whether it’s for a student studying at UH Manoa or just a rental property in a convenient location.
“It’s a cute unit,” says realtor Lori-Ann Tsang of Prudential Advantage Realty. “Even though it’s on a lower floor, it’s quite quiet.”
The 685-square-foot unit, which was just listed today, is very clean and was renovated with new ceramic tile flooring and refinished cabinets in the kitchen and bathroom, along with a fresh coat of paint throughout the place.
Sliding shoji doors attractively cordon off the second bedroom for privacy, which is just off the living room.
The maintenance fee is a reasonable $334 a month, which includes sewer and water. There’s a resident manager on the premises, and a keyed elevator for security.
Fuzz factor: Sorry, no pets are allowed.
One uncovered parking stall is included in the price. There two stalls available for guests, plus street parking.
Check it out for yourself at a broker’s open house (it’s open to the public) tomorrow from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. It will also be open on Sunday, Sept. 2, from 2 to 5 p.m. Click here for details.
Money talk: $295,000 fee simple
