Own a newer home in old Manoa

Manoa is best known as an older neighborhood, full of historic homes. While there’s a certain charm to that, the opportunity to own a newer home in the area has big appeal, as well. (Click here for details.)

Here’s a new listing in upper Manoa, one of those rare newer homes—just five years old. It’s spacious, with an open floor plan to extend your line of eyesight out to the extra large deck, landscaped yard, and view of the lush valley. (Okay, there’s also a cemetery view.)

The two-story home is almost 4,000 square feet, sitting on a lot that’s more than 7,000 square feet, so there’s lots of room to move; the four bedrooms and four baths are set up so you could make two separate residences.

I was most impressed with the gigantic gourmet kitchen, with lots of counter space and an island in the middle. There’s also a custom bar—clearly created for people who like to entertain.

It’s a nice, comfortable home; very modern, but not so ostentatious that you feel uncomfortable or terribly out of place in such a laid-back neighborhood.

Money talk: $1,495,000 fee simple
