Nicely upgraded condo in Kakaako
Yesterday, I dropped in on the open house of this two-bedroom, two-bath condo located in the east tower at the Moana Pacific in Kakaako. (Click here for details.)
There are several units for sale in this property (there were three open houses yesterday), but this one stands out with its high-end upgrades and nice finishes.
You enter the 1,113-square-foot unit into an airy kitchen/living/dining area. For those who like to entertain, there is room for a formal dining table and credenza.
The owners gutted the kitchen and bathrooms when they bought the place new in 2007. In the kitchen, they installed cherry-wood cabinetry and new appliances (though the Sub Zero refrigerator came standard) and granite countertops in the kitchen, along with a built-in wine cooler.
The bathrooms have the same granite for the vanity tops and travertine flooring. The master bathroom has a real spa feel, a vessel sink with an attractive waterfall flow faucet. The shower sports a total of five spray heads for that extra “aaaah” after a tough day or a long workout. Or, if you need a long soak, you can pad over to the second bathroom with its deep tub complete with jets.
From the living room, master and second bedrooms, there are views of the ocean and Magic Island and you overlook the tennis court side of the two-acre recreation deck (described below).
Off the kitchen/living area is a den, which can used as an office where two people can comfortably work, or perhaps a media or craft room.
You'll be prepared for those hot summer days ahead, the unit comes with central A/C.
The maintenance fee include the basics – water, sewer and cable TV, along with broadband Internet service. A nice amenity: Wi-Fi is available in many of the common areas including the recreation deck, so you can set up your laptop and “work” while lounging next to the pool.
Other amenities include the recreation deck which features two tennis courts, a putting green, six golf driving cages, a whirlpool and swimming pool, and a playground. Each tower has its own fitness center, party room and – my favorite – a 21-seat movie theater.
You can have the ultimate movie night with 20 of your closest friends. Reserve the theater with security, bring down a DVD, and sit back and enjoy in the stadium-style seating.
The fuzz factor: Cats and small dogs are allowed, but you’re limited to two.
The condo comes with two covered, adjacent parking spaces. There are 14 spaces for guest parking in the east tower, along with ample street parking.
Money talk: $669,000 fee simple
