You’ll Want to Plan Ahead for This Weekend’s Road Closures: Nov. 17-19, 2017

We know you’re all busy prepping for Thanksgiving. To help you knock things off of your to-do list instead of wasting precious time sitting in your car, here’s our list of potential traffic jams.

 

Note: Lane closure schedules may change at any time without further notice. All projects are weather permitting.

 

H-1 Freeway

‘Ewa to Honokai Hale

There will be a lane closure in both directions between the Kunia offramp (Exit 5B) and the Ali‘inui Drive overpass on Sunday night, Nov. 19, to Wednesday morning, Nov. 22, from 9 p.m. to 4 a.m. for sign work.

 

Hālawa to Pearl City

Westbound, between the ‘Aiea Heights Drive overpass and the H-1/H-2 split, two lanes will be closed for striping work from 9 p.m. to 4 a.m. on Sunday night, Nov. 19, through Wednesday morning, Nov. 22.

 

Honolulu

Up to three right lanes will be closed in the eastbound direction between the Palama Street underpass and the Queen Emma Street overpass on Sunday night, Nov. 19, to Wednesday morning, Nov. 22, from 9 p.m. to 4 a.m. for guardrail improvements.

 

In the eastbound direction, there will be 24-hour shoulder closures near the Liliha Street overpass, the A‘ala Street overpass and the Queen Emma Street overpass from Sunday, Nov. 11, through Friday, Nov. 17, for guardrail and shoulder improvements.

 

The eastbound right lane between the Liliha Street onramp and the A‘ala Street overpass will be closed from 9:30 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 17, through to 4 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 20, for guardrail improvements. The other four lanes will remain open.

 

The Liliha Street onramp in the eastbound direction will also be closed nightly from 9 p.m. to 4 a.m. starting on Friday, Nov. 17, to Monday, Nov. 20, for guardrail improvements. During these times, two right lanes will be closed on the H-1. The other three will remain open.

 

Kalihi

The right lane near the eastbound Waikīkī/Nimitz Highway offramp (Exit 18A) will be closed from 7 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Nov. 18, for electrical maintenance.

 

H-201 Moanalua Freeway

Hālawa

There will be a westbound lane closure between the Kāne‘ohe offramp (Exit 1D) and the ‘Aiea Heights Drive overpass on Sunday, Nov. 19, to Wednesday, Nov. 22, from 9 p.m. to 4 a.m. for road improvements.

 

Farrington Highway

Kapolei

In both directions, there will be an alternating lane closure at the Kalaeloa Boulevard intersection from 9:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 17, to 3 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 18, for maintenance.

 

Nānākuli

Eastbound, between Haleakalā Avenue and Nānākuli Avenue, one lane will be closed for utility installations from 11 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 17, through to 4 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 18.

 

Kalaniana‘ole Highway

Maunawili

There will be a roving lane closure for maintenance work from 7 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. Nov. 18, in the westbound direction between Kailua Road and Kapa‘a Quarry Road.

 

Kamehameha Highway

Hālawa

Westbound, the right turn lane at Hālawa Drive will be closed from 10 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 17, through 5 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 18, for the rail project. For more details visit honolulutransit.org.

 

Ka‘awa

There will be an alternating lane closure near Kahana Valley Road for a film production from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 19.

 

Mililani

From 9 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 17, through 5 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 20, the highway will be closed in both directions between Ka Uka Boulevard and Lanikūhana Avenue for bridge deck work. Motorists are advised to use the H-2 Freeway as an alternate route.

 

Pearl Harbor

Near Center Drive to Arizona Street, in both directions, there will be a lane closure from 8 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 17, to 5 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 18, for the rail project. For more details visit honolulutransit.org.

 

Wahiawā

Southbound traffic will have a right lane closed between Avocado Street and Wilikina Drive from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 18, for maintenance.

 

Nimitz Highway

Honolulu

At the Valkenburgh Street intersection, up to two lanes will be closed in both directions on Sunday night, Nov. 19, to Wednesday morning, Nov. 22, from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. for the rail project. For more details visit honolulutransit.org.

 

Pali Highway

Nu‘uanu

In the Kailua-bound direction, the right lane near the Nu‘uanu Pali Drive will be closed for maintenance work from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 18.

 

Keahumoa Parkway

Kapolei

In both directions near Kualakai Parkway, the right lanes will have 24-hour closures from Friday, Nov. 17, to Friday, Nov. 24, for the rail project. For more details visit honolulutransit.org.

 

Aolele Street

Honolulu

There will be lane closures in both directions at the Paiea Street intersection from 10 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 17, through 4 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 18, for the rail project. For more details visit honolulutransit.org.
