What’s Open or Closed in Honolulu for Thanksgiving 2017

A sweet guide to which Honolulu City and County services will available or suspended in observance of Thanksgiving on Nov. 23, 2017.

What’s Open

  • All Zippy’s Restaurants locations will be open.
     

  • All Regal and Consolidated movie theaters will be open during regular hours.
     

  • Longs Drugs will be open; 24-hour stores will remain open 24 hours, while regular stores will be open from 5 a.m. to 5 p.m. The pharmacy will be open from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and MinuteClinic hours will vary by location.

Available Services

  • Emergency ambulance, fire, lifeguard, medical examiner and police services will be on duty.
     

  • TheBus will operate on a Sunday schedule. Visit thebus.org for routes and other information.
     

  • Parks, municipal golf courses, botanical gardens, the Honolulu Zoo and the Waikīkī Aquarium will be open.
     

  • Refuse will be collected.
     

  • Transfer stations, convenience centers, H-POWER and the Waimānalo Gulch Sanitary Landfill will be open.

 

Closed or Cancelled Services

  • The United States Postal Service will neither deliver nor send mail. Post offices statewide will be closed.
     

  • The Neal S. Blaisdell Center box office will be closed.
     

  • The People’s Open Markets will not be held.
     

  • All Satellite City Halls and Driver Licensing Centers will be closed.
     

  • Costco locations islandwide will be closed but, if you forget to pick up some cranberry sauce or need an extra can of whipped cream for your pumpkin pie, don’t fret: A variety of supermarkets will be open for your last-minute prep needs, including all Times Supermarkets (open until 7 p.m.), Foodland (open until 6 p.m.) and Safeway (open until 6 p.m.) locations.

 

Traffic and Parking Regulations

  • Free on-street parking, excluding the meters on Kalākaua Avenue along Queen Kapi‘olani Park and metered parking lots.
     

  • Traffic lanes will not be coned for contraflow.
