After a long wait, Ala Moana welcomes its ‘Ewa Wing anchor tenant, a 165,000-square-foot Bloomingdale’s that comes with a miles-long list of dashing, luxurious brands across three floors. Walk in, and you’ll find the telltale sleek, modern look Bloomingdale’s is known for, with Hawai‘i-inspired elements, including graphic palm-frond prints and bird-of-paradise motifs, thrown in to make Island shoppers feel at home. You’ll find rows of hula-girl figurines lining the shelves in swimwear, while monkey statues frolic with metallic pineapples near the women’s fitting rooms.

Offerings range from some under-$100 finds in the ready-to-wear section, to $40,000 pieces of fine jewelry. You’ll also find the first-ever Vince handbag shop, uber-popular Alexander Wang tees and expansive cosmetics and fragrance department carrying Tom Ford, La Prairie, Jo Malone and more. The Beauty at Your Service suite also offers complimentary aesthetician services with the purchase of two to three items, depending on the products. Shoppers can also snag items from brands that aren’t available anywhere else in Hawai‘i, including Burberry Beauty, Marni and Tidal. Hawai‘i goods are also in stock, including treats from Sea Salts of Hawai‘i and Big Island Bees.

Bloomingdale’s Honolulu opens Thursday, with a ceremony and special guests that include shoe designer Paul Mayer and Burberry’s London-based makeup artist (behind those classy runway looks!). Look for more events at the department store throughout the year, including crafts in the tres-adorable kids’ section and trunk shows with local jewelry designers.
