(Sponsored) While the Coco Puffs and poi mochi doughnuts haven’t changed (yay!), the restaurant’s made some updates for a safer customer experience.

As the threat of COVID-19 begins to subside, many of us are cautiously migrating back to the old normal … updated with new habits like frequent hand washing, increased usage of hand sanitizer and wearing a face mask any time we’re in public. Hey, it’s good to be cautious—a little paranoid, even—when it comes to the health and safety of ourselves and our community. And it’s nice to know that local businesses have our health and safety in mind as well.

Closed through part of March and all of April during the work-at-home, stay-at-home order, Liliha Bakery finally reopened its original location on Kuakini Street (for takeout only—checkout Liliha Bakery’s to-go menu) this Monday, May 11. Here are some extra precautions the restaurant is taking to keep us all safe.

It’s making sure its employees are healthy before they go back to work.

For example, its operations team has developed an internal screening test to make sure employees are healthy, and takes each team member’s temperature before their shift.

It’s added more barriers to keep germs from spreading.

Staff are supplied with face masks and gloves, and hand sanitizing stations have been added throughout the space. Plexiglass barriers have been installed in front of checkout areas to prevent spread, and high-touch surfaces are frequently disinfected by team members.

A to-go window has been added.

Phone and walk-in orders can now be picked up at a window. If you know what you want, the restaurant suggests phoning in your order to avoid wait times.

Business hours have changed.

For the past 70 years, Liliha Bakery was open 24 hours a day every Tuesday through Sunday. Now it’s adapted its business hours and will be open daily from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m., which the restaurant says makes more sense from an operations and business standpoint.
