What’s Open or Closed in Honolulu for Good Friday 2018

Your guide to which Honolulu City and County services will be available or suspended in observance of Good Friday on March 30, 2018.

AVAILABLE SERVICES

  • Emergency ambulance, fire, lifeguard, medical examiner and police services will be available.
     

  • TheBus will operate on a state holiday schedule. Visit thebus.org for routes and other information.
     

  • Parks, municipal golf courses, botanical gardens and the Honolulu Zoo will be open.
     

  • Refuse will be collected. 
     

  • Transfer stations, convenience centers, H-POWER and the Waimānalo Gulch Sanitary Landfill will be open.

 

CLOSED OR CANCELED SERVICES

  • The Neal S. Blaisdell Center box office will be closed.
     

  • The People’s Open Markets will not be held.
     

  • All Satellite City Halls and Driver Licensing Centers will be closed.

 

TRAFFIC AND PARKING REGULATIONS

  • Free on-street parking, excluding the meters on Kalākaua Avenue along Queen Kapiʻolani Park and metered parking lots.
     

  • Traffic lanes will not be coned for contraflow. 
     

  • Parking in Lanikai will be restricted over the three-day holiday weekend as follows:
     

‣ Friday, March 30 through Sunday, April 1: No parking on all Lanikai streets/shoulders from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
 

If you would like to access Lanikai Beach during this time, the City and County of Honolulu recommends walking, biking, taking TheBus Route 70 or being dropped off. (Note: The Lanikai Pillbox Hike is closed for two months as of March 28.)
