The Moana Surfrider Marks 117 Years with a Posh Birthday Celebration

Waikīkī’s first hotel, the elegant and timeless Moana Surfrider, A Westin Resort & Spa, is preparing to celebrate her 117th birthday in grand style. The First Lady of Waikīkī has been creating memories for guests since it first opened its doors on March 11, 1901. To celebrate the occasion on Saturday, March 10, the hotel is holding a Timeless Afternoon Tea Party at the Veranda, followed by an extraordinary concert by Raiatea Helm and Friends later that evening.

11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Experience a century-old tradition with themed décor and classic tea service along the magnificent Veranda at the Moana Surfrider, featuring a menu of special vintage-inspired tea sandwiches and French-inspired cakes and pastries, plus one complimentary glass of sparkling rosé. Vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free menu options are available. Acclaimed pianist Ginny Tiu will provide music that day.

$75 per adult, $40 per child (3–12 years), includes tax and gratuity. Two seatings available: 11:30 a.m. or 1:30 p.m.


Raiatea Helm


Birthday Celebration Concert featuring Raiatea Helm and Friends

7 to 9 p.m.

Raiatea Helm is joined by musical guests for an outdoor performance under the stars at the Moana Surfrider’s Banyan Courtyard. A bright young Moloka‘i talent with a signature sweet sound, Helm’s sophomore album, Sweet and Lovely, earned her Hawai‘i’s first-ever Grammy nomination for solo female vocalist in 2006. General seating is on the Banyan Courtyard, or purchase the Veranda Experience VIP Dinner Package and enjoy prime concert views from Beachhouse restaurant, along with a four-course prix fixe dinner prepared by chef David Lukela and complimentary valet parking.

Seating at Banyan Courtyard: $35 per person for open seating in concert-style seating rows, $50 per person for open seating at shared tables, includes tax and gratuity, complimentary self-parking. The Veranda Experience VIP Dinner Package: $155 per person, includes tax and gratuity, four-course prix fixe dinner at Beachhouse restaurant, complimentary valet parking.
