>>Best Island-Style Furniture On A Budget
HAWAIIAN LAMP AND FURNITURE CO. was a brick-and-mortar store in Iwilei before relocating, a few years ago, to the Internet. It now deals mostly with commercial clients, although it still specializes in furnishings that evoke the bedrooms and living rooms of mid-20th-century Hawaii.
Its sofas, chairs, dressers and whatnot are made in Indonesia from acacia and mango woods, koa’s more affordable look-alikes. An acacia rocker will set you back $750, about a quarter of what a koa rocker would. There’s no showroom, but if you’ve ever had a seat at Ala Moana’s Mai Tai Bar or in the lobby of the Hilo Airport, two of the commercial clients, you’ve already taken a test ride.
