Forget matchy-matchy mommy-and-me outfits of yore. This past spring, at the request of many of their customers, designers Rona Bennett and Lan Chung of FIGHTING EEL launched a line of their simple, stylish fashions for the mini style set. Ava Sky, named after Chung’s daughter, is for girls ages 2 to 10 and features lightweight, machine-washable versions of the same fun, colorful and comfortable tie-dyed and patterned dresses for which the brand is known. Look out for an expanded line and new store in Waikiki coming soon. Ava Sky is available exclusively at Fighting Eel.

If you’re into organic eats, you’ll appreciate the organic threads from local-brand ORGANIK. In 2007, co-founders and cousins Ed Fernandez and Brian Jones combined their backgrounds in environmental health and graphic design to create a line of graphic tees, casual clothing and beachy accessories with a focus on sustainable practices. Organik uses, you guessed it, organic cotton, bamboo, recycled fabrics and low-impact dyes to craft its comfy wares. All items are made in the U.S. and hand-dyed and hand-screened in the aloha state. Find them at Whole Foods, Community, Genius Outfitters and other stores around the Islands.
