Netflix and the comforts of your living room couch might be taking over the entertainment world, but there's no substitute for the huge, cinematic experience to be had at the good old-fashioned movies. Which is why we love CONSOLIDATED THEATERS' HANA HOU PICTURE SHOW, a retro  film series that revives classic favorites from past decades. Dirty Dancing, Labryinth, Raiders of the Lost Ark—they all look amazing when screened at Ward Stadium 16's Titan XC theater, the largest commercial movie screen in the state. There's even a participatory element to the series that reminds us of the old Radio Free Hawaii days: You can vote for what old-school movie you'd like to see next.

RACE WORLD HAWAII

There aren't too many places where moms and dads can calmly smile as their little ones drive away behind the wheel of a car. But at RACE WORLD HAWAII, where the gravity-powered box cars roll down a mild grade at 4 mph, low-speed family fun is the name of the game. Children with spotless driving records can work their ways up to the blistering speed of 9 mph (which feels even faster when 9 is more than your age). But reckless drivers beware: Moving violations can land you in time out. Drop in during the open track hours or, for $275, rent the entire racecourse for a party.

Catered food? Check. Playlist? Check. Guests? Check. The talented women of CHERRY BLOSSOM CABARET?! Oh, yes. Liven up your next party or event by hiring these local burlesque performers. Just fill out the form online with the date and time of your event, and your budget, and they'll work with you from there. "We can do $200 to $10,000, if you have the budget," says performer Miss Catwings, with a laugh.

The women can handle anything from greeting arriving guests, to mingling in costume, to full choreographed performances—at varying degrees of risque. "We also do bachelorette parties, where women want to learn a burlesque number, be a little more sexy, and learn how to perform for their boyfriends or girlfriends," says Miss Catwings. The women are booked for private events about once a month, and also do themed private events. And because they have large costume collections they primarily make themselves, you know they can pull it off. Literally. "Sometimes all we take off is a glove, other times it's a corset, but we still have bras and panties on underneath," she says. "It's the art of the tease."

RUMFIRE

Afternoon tea has been around since the 19th century. Rumfire in the Sheraton Waikiki has taken the high-class concept and turned on its head with the HIGH TEA EXPERIENCE. Instead of sipping hot tea from a teacup, pinkies out, enjoy iced-tea concoctions ... with booze. We liked the ginger peach green tea, with Seagram's peach tea vodka. Stirrings ginger liqueur and cold green tea. Tiny finger sandwiches are replaced by juicy sliders, such as the ground black angus with the Italian truffle cheese or the braised beef short rib. Finish it all off with a mini-dessert; our favorite was the red velvet cupcake. Now that's an afternoon tea. (The High Tea Experience is available daily from 2 to 4 p.m. for $20, which includes one drink, two sliders and one dessert.)
