Place for Remodeling Materials

Editors' Pick

Treasure hunters, artists and DIY’ers—there’s a cheaper and greener way to gather materials for your next building project. Stop by Re-Use Hawaii, a fully licensed demolition contractor whose mission is to salvage as much construction materials as possible from demolished structures, up to 80 percent in some projects. Selina Tarantino, co-executive director, says, “We look at waste as a resource.” Turns out there’s hidden gold in old houses, Re-Use Hawaii’s warehouse holds a wealth of rescued flooring, cabinets, sinks, windows and even some furniture. Did we forget to mention that all donations and materials gathered from Re-Use Hawaii’s deconstructions are tax deductible?
30 Forrest Ave., 953-5538, reusehawaii.org.
