Reason To Watch the Nightly News: Male

Readers' Pick

Known for his wry asides, lengthy sign-offs and the occasional, gratuitous self-promotion, KHON2 news anchor Joe Moore is like a B-movie: an action-packed, cheesy romp that you just can’t stop watching. For 40-plus years, Moore has been a local-news fixture, and his current gigs—World Report at 5:30 p.m., Hawaii at Six and Hawaii at Ten—have consistently dominated the ratings. When not behind the news desk, the Aiea High School graduate and Vietnam veteran often moonlights as an actor and playwright, having starred in and written plays for Diamond Head Theatre, Manoa Valley Theatre and others.
