The Kona Brewing Co. turns out 13.6 million pints of Longboard Island Lager every year and you, dear readers, obviously have no trouble dispensing of it. We asked the company’s brewers what they like about the lager — after all, some of those poor saps have to taste it every day. “It’s a tough job, but someone’s got to do it,” deadpans brewmaster Rich Tucciarone. They craft the beer with a spicy, grassy hops aroma: light enough to satisfy your thirst after a day at the beach, but complex enough to hold up to our ethnic cuisines. Tucciarone recommends pairing the lager with ahi poke, grilled chicken on mixed greens, fresh fish or any kind of pizza. Cheers. Available in stores and Kona Brewing Co.
