Covenant Books and Coffee is officially a Christian bookstore, but it’s become best known for its panoply of amazing soups. Pumpkin bisque with garlic croutons, crab and corn chowder, chicken and sausage gumbo—every day of the month brings a different flavor, every one delicious. The recipes are the creation of David Yoshimura, who’s become known as the Godfather of Soup. “We make our soups from scratch every day, with fresh produce,” says Yoshimura. “It takes a lot of preparation, but it’s worth it.”
